Garage Door Questions, Answered

The questions we get asked most in Meridian and Lauderdale County.

How long does a garage door opener last?

Ten to fifteen years. Before that, most faults are a worn gear, a failed capacitor or a sensor knocked out of line - all cheaper than replacing the unit.

My remote works up close but not from the road. Why?

Usually a weak battery or a worn antenna wire on the opener head. Occasionally it is interference from an LED bulb in the opener itself, which is a five-minute fix.

The door is off its track. Can I push it back?

Please do not. A door off track is under uneven load and can drop or fold. Leave it, and do not run the opener - that is what turns a track job into a panel job.

Can you fit springs to any door?

Nearly always. We measure wire size, inside diameter and length, and match the spring to the door's actual weight rather than fitting whatever is closest.

Still stuck?

Describe what the door is doing and we will tell you what it needs.
